Cupping

Can be added with Massage (no additional cost)

Cupping, an ancient Chinese remedy, is rooted in the belief that health problems stem from stagnant blood and a low energy flow. To increase blood circulation, a practitioner applies glass, rubber, or bamboo cups to the affected area and creates suction, either with a flame that creates a vacuum in the cup or with a hand-held gun-like device that sucks the air out through a hole at the top of the cup.

Because the suction draws blood to the affected area, the oxygen supply is increased and tension and inflammation are reduced. Cupping is primarily used to alleviate stiffness and pain in the neck, back, and shoulders and helps to cure respiratory illnesses.

If you want to give cupping a try, discuss your goals of the cupping session and what you hope to fix with your therapist. Stationary cupping, where the cups remain in one spot, or sliding cupping, where the practitioner uses oil to glide cups in a specific pattern over your skin. The procedure isn’t painful, although you may experience minimal surface sensitivity in the first few hours after treatment. The most noticeable side effects are those hickey-looking marks which usually fade within a week, precisely when you will experience relief as a result of cupping.

Studies suggest that cupping can in fact be an effective treatment for lower back pain, neck pain, and knee osteoarthritis. While cupping is a safe alternative therapy, it works best when combined with more conventional approaches. As a precautionary measure, cupping around the adnominal or lower back area is not recommended if you are pregnant. Communicate with your therapist during the treatment to assure that the cupping is not too aggressive and to avoid skin trauma.

raindrop therapy.jpg

Raindrop Therapy

A half hour combined with Massage ($20 additional)

Raindrop technique is a powerful, non-invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine. During the years it has been practiced, it has resolved numerous cases of scoliosis, kyphosis and has eliminated the need for back surgery for thousands of people. Raindrop Technique originated in the 1980s from the research of Dr. Gary Young who worked with a Lakota medicine man named Wallace Black Elk. It integrates Vitaflex technique with the power of essential oils in bringing the body into structural and electrical alignment.

Raindrop Technique uses a sequence of essential oils that are immune enhancing, support the body's natural defenses, as well as the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, nervous, and other body systems. These oils, which are high in antioxidants, are also mood elevating and antiseptic, creating an unfavorable environment for harmful viruses and bacteria to hibernate in the body. Essential oils are known to boost stamina and energy, help you relax, manage stress and frustration, and promotes overall health, vitality, and longevity. The principal single oils used include:

  • Ravensara

  • Thyme

  • Oregano

  • Cypress

  • Birch

  • Basil

  • Peppermint

  • Marjoram

  • Lavender

  • Valor

The oils are dispensed in little drops from a height of about six inches above the back. They are then massaged along the spine and back muscles, and applied to the feet.

The whole process takes approximately one hour and may continue to work in the body for up to one week following a Raindrop Session, with possible realignment and bodily adjustment taking place during this time.

Raindrop Technique is not a cure-all or a magic bullet. A healthy balanced body is the result of a well-rounded program of exercise and proper diet. Health is everything we do, say, hear, see, and eat. The Raindrop Technique is only one tool to restore balance in the body that will result in good health.
